June 22, 2014 | Reverend Tom Mabie | The Flow of the Gospel | 1 Thessalonians 1:1-10

The Gospel flows through natural, relational networks. This is evident throughout the growth of the early church as recorded in the the Book of Acts. Jesus taught and modeled his ministry along relational networks. When he sent out his disciples to minister he told them to find a person of peace and to stay with them. A person of peace is someone who is seeking a relationship with God and who is moving towards Christ, from whom we can gain access to their network of family, friends and coworkers.

Today we’ll look briefly at a portion of Paul’s journey, then focus specifically on his ministry to the Thessalonians, their response to the gospel, how it flows through their context, and impacted an entire region. We’ll also look at some specific lessons we can learn from this context of ministry and apply these lessons to our lives and ministry.
